Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle as a mature-age rookie, Ashton Hams arrived at West Coast with a decorated WAFL resume that already included two premierships and a Simpson Medal. The diminutive left-footer quickly found a niche in the Eagles' forward line, compensating for his lack of size with football smarts, accurate finishing, and a contentious ability to draw high-contact free kicks by dropping his knees or shrugging tackles. He became a serviceable goal-kicker during the club's transition period under John Worsfold, notably maintaining an average of better than a goal a game throughout his career. Hams retired from the AFL at the end of 2013 to return to the WAFL, where he further solidified his standing as a South Fremantle legend and one of the state league's most decorated players.
