Bio
Hailing from Ulverstone in Tasmania, Aub Charleston was a robust utility who arrived at Carlton with a formidable physical profile but struggled to cement a regular senior spot. After departing Princes Park, he crossed to the VFA and established himself as a key pillar for Coburg during the club's celebrated golden era, featuring prominently as the Lions asserted their dominance in the late 1920s. His strong performances in the Association earned him a second chance at VFL level with Essendon in 1928, though he added only nine games to his tally for the Dons before returning to the VFA. A tall follower and defender who used his 185cm frame to advantage in contested situations, Charleston is best remembered as a VFA stalwart who bookended a brief stint at Windy Hill with high-level football in the second tier.
