Bio
Recruited from Glenelg with pick 48 in the 2015 National Draft, Bailey Williams had to bide his time before becoming a permanent fixture at the Whitten Oval. While he debuted late in the club's fairytale 2016 season, he did not feature in the premiership side, spending his formative years developing his craft in the VFL before breaking out as a regular senior contributor around 2019. A versatile operator, Williams established himself primarily as a rebounding defender who uses a damaging left foot to set up play from the back half, though he has frequently demonstrated the capacity to shift onto a wing or pinch-hit through the midfield when structural changes are required.
His career trajectory spiked noticeably during the 2021 season, where he finished sixth in the Charles Sutton Medal and featured in the Grand Final loss to Melbourne. Often underrated by external observers, Williams evolved into a crucial connective piece for the Bulldogs' transition game, valued highly by the coaching staff for his composure and precise distribution by foot. Now a veteran with over a decade of service, he remains a reliable stalwart in the defensive rotation, offering experience and stability to a backline that has seen significant personnel changes throughout his career.
