Bio
Recruited from Lemnos in the Goulburn Valley, McKellar was a half-forward who played his best football during Footscray's famous 1961 campaign. After a quiet debut season, he cemented his spot in the senior side the following year, playing 19 games and lining up on the half-forward flank in the Grand Final loss to Hawthorn. While he established himself as a regular contributor in a strong side under Ted Whitten, his VFL career was prematurely cut short by a severe knee injury requiring cartilage surgery. Unable to regain his fitness at elite level, he was removed from the training list in 1963 and later moved to the Riverina to coach Coolamon.
