Bio
Recruited from Tooronga Malvern in Melbourne's inner east, Barri Trotter arrived at Punt Road with a notable football lineage, being the great-nephew of former Fitzroy player Percy Trotter. A versatile midfielder capable of playing as a wingman or ruck-rover, he broke into the senior side midway through the 1979 season, making his debut against rivals Carlton in Round 13. He retained his spot for the following week against Melbourne but struggled to cement a permanent place in a Tigers squad that was rapidly building toward its dominant 1980 premiership campaign. His career at the elite level was ultimately cut short by an injury sustained during training in 1980, which forced him out of contention during that historic season. Trotter eventually returned to local football, where he enjoyed a long tenure as a player and later coached clubs including Mount Evelyn and Yarra Junction.
