Bio
Recruited from West Perth with a formidable reputation, Barry Day was a pacey half-forward and ruck-rover who arrived at Essendon as a mature-age state representative. He was already a household name in the WAFL, having starred in West Perth's 1975 premiership victory with a spectacular eight-goal performance in the Grand Final. A talented dual-sport athlete who was also a champion surfer, Day possessed natural flair and a sharp eye for goal, but he found it difficult to consistently translate his dominant interstate form to the Victorian league. After playing 11 games in his debut season at Windy Hill, he struggled to hold his spot in 1980 and crossed to Collingwood mid-year, where he played in the reserves without adding to his senior tally.
