Stats
Bio
Recruited from QAFL club Morningside, Barry Denny was a standout Queensland defender who crossed into the VFL at a time when interstate recruits from the northern states were a rarity. A dual best and fairest winner with the Panthers, he joined Melbourne ahead of the 1977 season but endured a brutal start to his VFL career, suffering a broken collarbone and ruptured finger tendon in just his second match. The hard-at-it backman eventually established himself in the senior side, playing the bulk of his games in 1978, but opted to return home to Queensland following the 1979 season. Denny resumed his dominance in the QAFL, eventually playing over 100 games for Morningside and earning induction into the Queensland Football Hall of Fame.
