Bio
Recruited from Coleraine in Victoria’s Western District, Barry McKenzie was a towering ruckman who arrived at Fitzroy in the late 1960s. Standing 193cm and weighing nearly 100kg, he provided a formidable physical presence in the contest, using his size to create opportunities for the Lions' midfield. Despite his imposing frame, McKenzie found it difficult to cement a permanent place in the senior side, playing 38 games across five seasons while often battling for selection. After departing the VFL at the end of 1972, he moved to South Australia and carved out a successful second chapter with West Torrens, where he became a consistent performer and played 77 games in the SANFL.
