Stats
Bio
Recruited from Albury in the strong Ovens & Murray Football League, Barry Takle was a key-position prospect who arrived at Hawthorn in 1955. Standing 188cm and weighing 86kg, he possessed significant size for the era, offering the Hawks an option in the ruck or as a key forward as they looked to climb the ladder under coach Jack Hale. Takle broke into the senior side midway through the season, debuting in Round 9 against Footscray, but found it difficult to impose himself at the VFL level. He managed just four senior appearances and booted a single goal before losing his place in the lineup, ultimately serving as one of many country recruits who passed through Glenferrie Oval during the club's transitional years in the mid-1950s.
