Recruited from the Coldstream Football Club via the Casey Demons, Bayley Fritsch took a mature-age pathway to the AFL before being selected by Melbourne with pick 31 in the 2017 National Draft. While he initially spent time pushing up the ground on a wing, he ultimately found his niche as a high-production medium forward. Possessing a clean pair of hands overhead and a distinctively accurate left-foot set shot, Fritsch became renowned for his ability to generate scores from limited opportunities and isolate defenders deep inside the forward 50.

Fritsch established himself as the Demons' primary avenue to goal during a sustained period of success for the club, topping the team's goalkicking table in multiple seasons. His reputation as a big-game player was solidified during the 2021 Grand Final, where he booted six goals to play a decisive role in breaking Melbourne's 57-year premiership drought. By 2026, he had evolved into a senior figure in the forward line, offering consistency and finishing class as a vital one-club player.
