Bio
Recruited from WAFL club Claremont with pick 49 in the 1999 National Draft, Ben Cunningham was a rotational midfielder and forward who struggled to cement a regular spot in the Fremantle lineup. Best remembered by the purple army for a clutch 50-metre goal that snatched the lead against St Kilda in the dying seconds of a 2002 clash at Subiaco, Cunningham also achieved brief cult status for sporting a distinctive afro hairstyle in his official 2003 squad photo. Despite these flashes of character and potential, injuries and inconsistent form limited him to just 33 games over five seasons, and he was delisted at the end of 2004 before continuing his state league career with Claremont and Peel Thunder.
