Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Western Jets with pick 26 in the 1999 National Draft, Ben Haynes initially struggled to cement a spot in Richmond's lineup, managing just five games in two seasons before being delisted. He was thrown a lifeline by Essendon via the 2003 Rookie Draft and, after being elevated to the senior list, carved out a niche as a hard-running midfielder and half-forward who used the ball efficiently. Haynes enjoyed his most consistent football at Windy Hill, particularly during the 2003 season, but persistent soft-tissue injuries frequently interrupted his momentum and limited his ability to string games together. Unable to secure a permanent place in the Bombers' rotation, he was delisted for the final time at the end of 2005, leaving the game as a skilled but unlucky utility who is arguably now best known as the older brother of Australian cricket star Rachel Haynes.
