Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges, Ben Kane had to earn his AFL opportunities the hard way, beginning his career on Hawthorn's rookie list before gaining elevation to make his senior debut in 2003. A diligent, hard-running midfielder often utilized in defensive or run-with roles, Kane played during a difficult transitional period for the Hawks, managing sporadic appearances rather than sustained runs in the senior side. He accumulated nine games in both the 2004 and 2006 seasons, displaying significant resilience by fighting his way back into contention even after being delisted and re-claimed as a rookie prior to his final year. Ultimately, he could not survive the ruthless list turnover of the early Alastair Clarkson era and was delisted for the final time at the end of 2006, departing just as the club began its ascent toward premiership success.
