Bio
Recruited from the Northern Knights with pick 29 in the 2005 National Draft, Ben McKinley established himself as a potent medium-sized forward for West Coast during a difficult transitional period for the club. Renowned for his strong hands on the lead and exceptional accuracy in front of goal, he became the Eagles' leading goalkicker in the 2008 season, providing a reliable avenue to goal as the team adjusted to life after its premiership era. Despite this early success, McKinley fell down the pecking order as key targets like Josh Kennedy solidified their hold on the forward line, prompting a trade to North Melbourne at the end of 2010 in search of greater opportunity. However, he unable to break into the senior side consistently at Arden Street, managing just two appearances for the Kangaroos before being delisted at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
