Bio
A local product from the suburb of Richmond, Bennie Lunn was a depth player for the Tigers who found his greatest individual success during a brief hiatus from the VFL. After struggling to cement a permanent spot in the Richmond lineup during his initial two seasons, Lunn ventured to Gippsland in 1927 to take up a role as captain-coach of the Rosedale Football Club. He thrived in the country environment, dominating the competition to win the Jensen Award as the Gippsland Football League's Best and Fairest player. This form warranted a recall to Punt Road, where he added another string of senior games before crossing to Hawthorn for a final season in 1930. While never a star at the elite level, his achievements in the bush proved he was a handy ball-winner and capable leader when given the responsibility.
