Stats
Bio
Recruited from local club Auburn, Bert Amey was a pint-sized rover who earned a brief call-up to the VFL during the player shortages of the Second World War. Standing just 166cm and weighing a slight 60kg, he was one of the smallest players in the competition when he broke into the Hawthorn lineup late in the 1944 season. Amey made his debut in a rare draw against St Kilda at Glenferrie Oval and retained his spot for the subsequent two rounds against Collingwood and North Melbourne. Unable to consolidate a permanent place in the senior side, he departed the top flight after just three appearances without registering a goal.
