Bio
Recruited from the Werribee Football Club where he was a standout Best and Fairest winner, Bert Connolly arrived at the Western Oval as a mature-age prospect with a strong pedigree in country football, having also played for Stanhope. Standing 188cm and weighing 14 stone, he was a mobile follower and ruckman who used his solid frame to compete effectively in the contests. Connolly debuted in Round 2 of the 1951 season and played 10 games that year, offering valuable depth to the Bulldogs' follower division. However, he found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in the senior side the following season, adding just a single appearance in 1952 before his VFL career concluded after 11 games.
