Bio
Recruited from the Clifton Hill Churches, Bert Reitman was a local product who managed a brief stint with the Magpies before finding his true footballing home in the VFA. He debuted in the opening round of the 1906 season and featured regularly throughout his first year, but after making just two appearances early in 1907, he was cleared to Williamstown to pursue greater opportunities. While his VFL career was confined to a dozen games, Reitman developed into a distinguished figure in the Association, playing over 100 games and eventually serving as captain-coach of the Seagulls. Standing 180cm, he was renowned as a "fair and manly" competitor who commanded respect from opposition players, ultimately trading a peripheral role at Victoria Park for legendary status at Williamstown.
