Bio
Recruited from Pakenham, Bertie Wollacott’s VFL career was defined by a massive hiatus and a significant off-field contribution to the Essendon Football Club. He initially broke into the league with Richmond in 1911, managing just three appearances and booting three goals before disappearing from the top flight for seven full seasons. Wollacott resurfaced at East Melbourne in 1918, joining the Dons as they re-entered the competition following their wartime recess. A handy forward who averaged nearly a goal a game despite his sporadic appearances, he added 11 games to his tally over four years in red and black. While never a permanent fixture in the senior side, his dedication to Essendon extended well beyond his playing days, as he later served as the club's treasurer for several years.
