Recruited from Port Melbourne Railway United after a stint plying his trade in Western Australia, Bill Angwin delivered one of the most efficient cameos in league history. He commenced the 1913 season with Melbourne but, after just three senior appearances, crossed to St Kilda mid-year—a significant move that allowed him to finish the year at the Junction Oval. While he played only nine career games, Angwin’s legacy is defined by a singular moment of clutch performance: his solitary VFL goal proved to be the match-winner in a tight contest against Essendon. He managed two final appearances for the Saints in 1914 before his league career concluded, leaving him with the unique distinction of his only goal securing four premiership points.
