Bio
Recruited from Waterloo, Bill Bowe was a tough defender who became a fixture in the Melbourne side during the league's formative years. Although he made his senior debut during the club's premiership-winning 1900 campaign, he managed just one appearance that season and was ruled out of the Grand Final side due to injury. He put that early disappointment behind him to establish himself as a consistent performer in the backline, missing only a handful of games between 1901 and 1905. Known for his physical approach and ability to pinch-hit in the forward line when required, Bowe remained a loyal servant to the Redlegs for seven seasons before finishing his VFL career in 1906.
