Bio
Recruited from Altona, Bill Brown was a diminutive footballer who joined Hawthorn in 1926 during the club's difficult formative years in the VFL. Standing at just 169cm, he faced a challenging task to establish himself in a struggling Mayblooms lineup that was frequently on the receiving end of heavy defeats. After managing four senior appearances in his debut season, Brown found himself on the outer for the entire 1927 campaign before fighting his way back to play eight matches in the first half of 1928. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the side, he was cleared midway through the season to Yarraville, where he continued his career in the VFA.
