Bio
Recruited from Elwood Juniors, Bill Carlson was a late-season inclusion for St Kilda in 1905 who showed immediate promise as a scoring option. He broke into the senior side in August against Fitzroy and quickly demonstrated an eye for the goals, managing to hit the scoreboard in three of his four career matches. Carlson was a key contributor in the Saints’ thumping 60-point victory over Geelong at the Junction Oval to close out the 1905 season, a rare highlight for a struggling outfit that finished near the bottom of the ladder. Despite maintaining a tidy average of a goal per game, his VFL career was short-lived, with Carlson making just one further appearance in early 1906 before departing the league.
