Family

Recruited from local side St Kilda West CYMS, Bill Carmody was a productive forward who featured for the Saints during the immediate post-war era. A Christmas Day baby, he made his debut in 1946 and quickly proved to be a capable target in attack, using his 178cm frame to good effect and averaging better than a goal a game throughout his career. He was particularly efficient in front of the big sticks during his second season, booting 11 goals in just seven appearances, yet he struggled to secure a permanent spot in the starting lineup. Despite his ability to hit the scoreboard, Carmody's VFL career was brief, concluding at the end of the 1947 season after just 18 senior games.
