Stats
Bio
A local product recruited from Richmond Districts, Bill Carrick was a tall key forward who had to bide his time in the reserves before earning a senior call-up. Standing 187cm, he finally broke into the senior lineup in Round 2, 1956, seizing his opportunity when regular spearhead Bob Dummett was ruled out with the flu. Carrick made an immediate impact, booting two goals on debut against Hawthorn, and managed to hold his spot for a month by shifting to a half-forward flank once Dummett returned. Despite his promise as a scoring target, he struggled to cement a permanent place in the Tigers' attack and left the VFL at the end of the season. He is remembered at Punt Road as a member of the club's 1955 reserves premiership side, and he later continued his career with Ballarat and VFA club Box Hill.
