Bio
A mature-age recruit hailing from the Ovens & Murray Football League club Hume Weir, Bill Donald's brief VFL career is best remembered for the unusual distinction of representing two clubs in the same season. Debuting for Carlton in 1927 at the age of 27, he managed two senior appearances in the Navy Blue before a mid-year clearance saw him cross to Fitzroy. He played a solitary match for the Maroons, unable to break into the side permanently or trouble the scorers at either destination. While his time at the elite level was fleeting, Donald remains a notable footnote in league history as one of the few players to wear the guernseys of two foundation clubs in a single winter.
