Bio
A mature-age recruit who received his opportunity at VFL level relatively late in his football journey, Bill Edwards arrived at Punt Road as a 26-year-old from the VFA. Originally coming through the Hawthorn reserves before establishing himself at Moorabbin, Edwards was brought into the Richmond side in the latter stages of the 1959 season to add physical presence and experience to the lineup. Standing 183cm and weighing 85kg, he possessed a solid frame well-suited to contested work and key position duties. Despite his long wait for a senior debut, his VFL career was fleeting, consisting of just two appearances and a solitary goal before he departed the top flight.
