Stats
Bio
Recruited from South Ballarat, Bill Hearn was a versatile half-forward and ruck-rover who displayed early potential during a brief stint at Richmond in 1935. Although he managed to boot five goals in his six senior appearances, he could not secure a permanent spot in the lineup and returned to country football, where he became an itinerant star across the Wimmera and Western districts. He played his best football alongside his brother Mike at Minyip and later spearheaded a premiership for Coleraine with a dominant six-goal Grand Final performance, though his career was frequently derailed by off-field legal troubles. Hearn ultimately enlisted for World War II using an assumed identity to bypass character checks, ending his footballing journey before drifting to the South Australian outback where he died at just 35.
