Teams

Recruited from Surrey Hills, Bill Henry was a journeyman forward who played his best football at his third and final VFL club. Initially finding opportunities scarce at Collingwood, where he featured just twice at senior level but played in the 1925 Reserves premiership side, he transferred to Hawthorn for two quiet seasons. Henry eventually found his stride at Essendon in 1928, enjoying a potent purple patch where he booted 20 goals in just nine games as a reliable marking target inside 50. He finished his playing days in the VFA with Yarraville and Oakleigh, later serving the latter as a long-term club secretary.
