Bio
Bill Johnson was a serviceable utility who broke into the VFL ranks with South Melbourne at the turn of the century. After making his debut in 1902, he became a reliable contributor at the Lake Oval over the next two seasons, offering flexibility and the ability to pinch-hit in the forward line where he booted seven goals. Following 24 appearances in the red and white, Johnson transferred to St Kilda for the 1905 season, joining a side that was firmly anchored to the bottom of the ladder. He managed six senior games at the Junction Oval during a difficult year for the Saints before his brief league career came to a close.
