Bio
A product of the Port Melbourne football factory, Bill Jones was a diminutive rover and forward pocket who played with opportunistic flair. He broke into the VFL as a teenager with Carlton in 1931 but found senior opportunities scarce in a strong Blues outfit, managing just a handful of appearances over two seasons. After a spell away from the top level, likely returning to the VFA, he was thrown a lifeline by North Melbourne in 1935. Jones proved to be a handy acquisition for the struggling Shinboners, using his goal sense to contribute nearly a major per game, yet he remained a depth player who could not quite secure a permanent position in the starting eighteen.
