A handy local product who added spark to the Geelong forward line in the early 1920s, Bill Keane was a small man with a keen eye for goal. Standing just 174cm, he operated primarily as a rover and forward pocket, demonstrating a knack for hitting the scoreboard with 21 majors across his 29 senior appearances. After debuting in 1921, he enjoyed his most consistent campaign in 1922, where he featured in 12 games and established himself as a dangerous option near the sticks. Despite his useful service, Keane drifted out of the senior side by the end of 1923, just missing the club's ascent to its maiden premiership two years later. He subsequently extended his football journey in the country, heading to the Ovens and Murray Football League to serve as the playing coach of Beechworth in 1925.
