Stats
Bio
Recruited from Lockington in northern Victoria, Bill Kelly was a lightly-built utility who arrived at the Western Oval to try his luck in the VFL during the 1950 season. Standing 178cm and weighing just 71kg, he faced the steep jump in class from country football to the big league but managed to break into Arthur Olliver's senior side for a brief stint that included a goal against Fitzroy in Round 3. His career at the top level was ultimately short-lived, with Kelly making just seven appearances in the tricolours before departing the club at the end of the year, leaving the scene just as Footscray began building the list that would eventually capture the 1954 premiership.
