Bio
Recruited from Port Rovers, Bill "Bubs" Kerr played a brief role in the league's formative years before his life was tragically cut short. After making a solitary senior appearance for Essendon in 1905, he spent a season in the VFA with Williamstown to build form, eventually earning a second chance at VFL level with South Melbourne (recorded in some modern databases as Sydney). He enjoyed a consistent run at the Lake Oval during the 1907 season, playing 15 games and proving to be a handy goal-kicking option, but he could not sustain a long-term spot in the top flight. His career context is sadly defined by its premature end; after returning to the VFA, Kerr contracted typhoid fever and passed away in 1911 at just 28 years of age.
