Bio
Arriving at the Students with senior experience already under his belt, Alexander "Bill" Lyon joined the club after previously lining up for Footscray in the VFA. His transition to the League coincided with his academic pursuits at the University of Melbourne, where he balanced his on-field duties with a degree in Agricultural Science. While his time at the elite level was fleeting, restricted to just seven appearances across the 1910 and 1911 seasons, he managed to hit the scoreboard during his brief tenure in the famous black V. Like many of his amateur teammates, Lyon eventually traded the football field for a professional career, leaving the game to become a respected agricultural scientist and later the officer-in-charge at the CSIRO's Merbein research station.
