Bio
William Gibson McIntyre was a World War I veteran who served with the 46th Battalion before forging a unique path across two leagues. Recruited from East Malvern, he initially broke into the VFL with Melbourne in 1920, managing three senior appearances before crossing to Footscray in the VFA the following season. McIntyre became a reliable figure for the Tricolours during their final years in the Association and earned his place in history as a member of the club's inaugural VFL squad in 1925. A defensive-minded player who failed to hit the scoreboard in his 16 career games, he featured 13 times during the Bulldogs' debut VFL season before eventually departing to play for Brighton.
