Bio
Bill McMaster was a World War II veteran whose brief tenure at the top level coincided with the VFL’s immediate post-war resumption. Born in Flemington, he transitioned from army service to senior football, joining North Melbourne for the 1946 season as clubs scrambled to restock their lists with returning servicemen. Standing 179cm, McMaster was given a three-game trial in the royal blue and white but was unable to secure a permanent position in the side. He finished the year without registering a goal and departed the VFL landscape, standing as one of many players who provided vital depth during the transitional 1946 campaign before returning to local pursuits.
