Bio
Recruited from Williamstown District, Bill McTaggart was a productive forward who made the most of his opportunities at Footscray during the Second World War. He established himself as a consistent avenue to goal for the Bulldogs, playing nearly every match between 1943 and 1945 and booting 56 majors as a reliable attacking option. Despite his solid strike rate, McTaggart fell out of favour at the Western Oval as the league returned to full strength post-war. He eventually surfaced at South Melbourne in 1947 but struggled to break into the senior lineup, managing just a solitary game for the Swans before his VFL career concluded.
