Bio
Recruited from VFA club West Melbourne, Bill McVeigh joined Carlton during the pivotal 1905 season as coach Jack Worrall was assembling the squad that would soon dominate the competition. Born in Koroit, the forward managed to break into the senior side for five matches, chipping in with three goals during a year where the Blues reached the semi-finals. However, he struggled to cement a permanent place in a lineup teeming with emerging superstars who would go on to secure a historic premiership hat-trick starting the very next season. McVeigh’s brief tenure at Princes Park ultimately fell victim to the incredible depth of the club's first great dynasty, marking him as a contributor to the build-up rather than the ultimate glory.
