Bio
Born in Fitzroy North, Bill Moore was a local product who entered the VFL ranks with Hawthorn midway through the 1938 season, ironically making his senior debut against Fitzroy at Glenferrie Oval. Standing 180cm and weighing 80kg, Moore was a solid utility player for his era, capable of holding down a key position or drifting into the forward line where he chipped in with 11 career goals. He became a consistent contributor for the Mayblooms (as they were then known) over four seasons, but like many young men of his generation, his sporting ambitions were cut short by global conflict. Moore enlisted in the Australian Army to serve in World War II, a decision that effectively ended his VFL career at just 24 years of age after 31 games.
