Stats
Bio
A local product who debuted at the remarkably young age of 16, Bill Osborne was part of St Kilda's playing list during the chaotic years immediately following World War I. Despite his early entry into league football, the teenager found it difficult to hold a position in the senior side, drifting in and out of the team to record just half a dozen games across three seasons. After failing to secure a permanent spot in the VFL, he transferred to the Association, briefly representing Hawthorn before becoming a defensive mainstay for Prahran, where he chalked up 76 games. While his football career was respectable, Osborne later achieved elite status in another arena entirely, becoming a renowned skipper in the sailing world and claiming ten national 14-foot championships.
