Bio
Bill Pritchard arrived at Kardinia Park with a glowing reputation from the bush, having claimed the 1947 Morrison Medal as the Goulburn Valley’s fairest and best player while representing Tatura. The son of former Carlton wingman Francis Pritchard, he possessed good size for the era at 183cm and was primarily utilised in defensive roles during his time in the Hoops, failing to register a goal across his VFL tenure. Despite his country pedigree, Pritchard found it difficult to command a permanent spot in a Geelong side that was rapidly evolving into a VFL powerhouse under Reg Hickey. He served as a reliable depth player for four seasons, managing a handful of senior appearances each year, but ultimately struggled to displace established backmen in the lead-up to the club’s drought-breaking 1951 premiership campaign.
