Bio
Recruited from the Noble Park Football Club, Bill Smith was a teenage utility who earned a brief opportunity with Fitzroy during the 1955 season. Standing 182cm, he possessed good size for the era and was called up to the senior side late in the year as an 18-year-old. Smith made his VFL debut in Round 17 against Footscray at the Brunswick Street Oval and retained his place for the final match of the season against Collingwood at Victoria Park. Despite breaking into the lineup at a young age, his VFL career was confined to those two appearances before he departed the league.
