Stats
Bio
Recruited from Fairfield CYMS, Bill Unwin was a tall, lightly-built utility who played as a follower or key position option for Collingwood just prior to the Second World War. Standing 188cm but weighing only 77kg, he lacked the bulk of a traditional ruckman, relying instead on his reach and athleticism to compete against heavier opponents. Unwin spent his first two seasons on the fringe of selection before finding consistency in 1940, playing 10 senior games and finishing runner-up in the club's reserves best and fairest count. His developing career was abruptly halted by military service following the 1941 season, and while he survived the war, he did not return to VFL football.
