Bio
Arriving at Melbourne after spending time on Collingwood's list without breaking through for a senior game, Bill Vanthoff quickly found his niche as a crumbing half-forward and relief rover. Originally from Terang, he proved to be a crafty goal-kicker and a consistent contributor, with his form warranting selection for the VFL representative side at the 1933 Sydney Carnival. His League career was effectively ended by a broken rib sustained midway through the 1934 season, after which he moved to the VFA to play with Camberwell. Vanthoff maintained a lifelong connection to the sport's spiritual home, later serving as the head curator of the MCG during the 1950s.
