Bio
A recruit from the Victorian amateur ranks, Bill Warne arrived at Fitzroy from Old Scotch Collegians in 1936. Standing 185cm and weighing 86kg, he was a sturdy unit for the era, possessing the physical dimensions of a key position player or a resting follower. Warne was unable to lock down a permanent spot in the Maroons' senior 22, playing a handful of games as a forward-ruck rotation across two seasons. He managed just six appearances and three goals before his League career concluded at the end of 1937. His life was cut tragically short less than a decade later when he passed away in an East Melbourne hospital in 1945, aged just 30.
