Bio
Recruited from VFA club Williamstown, Bill Whitbourne was a tall defensive prospect who made a brief cameo for Collingwood during the 1924 season. Standing 184cm, he possessed key position size for the era and was brought into the senior lineup early in the year to bolster the Magpies' backline. He made his debut in a Round 2 victory over St Kilda but struggled to hold a permanent spot in a competitive side destined for the finals, finding himself in and out of the selected side over the first two months. Whitbourne played his fourth and final game against Geelong in Round 7, where he notably drifted forward to boot his only career goal, before parting ways with Victoria Park at the end of the year.
