Bio
A local product born in Portarlington, Bill Woods was recruited from the nearby Ashby club and managed just two senior appearances for Geelong during the 1909 VFL season. His brief tenure at Corio Oval is often subject to a historical case of mistaken identity; despite contemporary reports from The Argus suggesting otherwise, he was not related to former Geelong player Ike Woods. While his league football career was fleeting and he did not impact the scoreboard, Woods' subsequent life was marked by significant military service, enlisting in the First AIF in 1915 and surviving a gunshot wound to the head in France before returning to Australia in 1919.
