Teams

Recruited from VFA club Brighton, Bill Young earned his opportunity with St Kilda at the start of the 1909 season. He made a promising start to his VFL career, playing as a forward and kicking two goals on debut against Essendon at the East Melbourne Cricket Ground. Despite being one of the Saints' few goal-scorers in that opening round defeat, his tenure at the top level proved exceptionally brief. Young held his place for the following week's fixture against Fitzroy at the Junction Oval but failed to score, subsequently losing his spot in the side. He finished his stint in the league with a remarkably symmetrical record of two games and two goals, standing as a brief footnote in the club's pre-war history.
