Bio
Born in Kensington, Billy Lynch entered the VFL with North Melbourne in 1927, joining the club during its difficult formative years in the major league. A versatile and athletic utility who could rotate between a half-back flank and the ruck, Lynch was known more for his relentless effort and physical fitness than for flashy skills. After playing 36 games for the Shinboners, he crossed to Essendon in 1930, where he added another 18 senior appearances over two seasons before departing the top level. His football journey continued in the VFA with Williamstown and later in country Victoria with Yarram, and he subsequently served in the Australian Army during the Second World War.
